LaClair Construction Services was formerly known as LaClair Painting &
Decorating. Douglas LaClair founded the company with some paint and a
ladder; at a time when drawings were done on the back of a napkin and deals
were made with a handshake. The company grew from a painting contractor into
the full-service general contractor that it is today.
Doug’s daughter, Jennifer Toebe, started working at the company well before
driving age and showed interest in learning about the business. She learned
a lot of from her father about how to treat customers, the quality of work
expected and the importance of a safe work environment. She became even more
involved in the business and worked full-time while earning her degree in
Business Management from Maryville University. In 1999, Jennifer became
majority owner and President of the company. It was then that the company
changed its name to LaClair Construction Services to better reflect its
identity.
